Information about joining the club as a non-CMU student
			and obtaining a DRYCAS account

First, let me thank you for requesting information on joining the CMU Computer
Club. More than likely, you have expressed this interest in order to obtain
a DRYCAS account. Well, read on ...

The official statement of purpose for the club is that the CMU Computer Club
is an independent organization, whose purpose is to promote the widespread
dissemination of knowledge concerning any and all aspects of computing. In
keeping with this statement of purpose, people in the Computer Club are very
friendly and willing to share their computing successes as well as their
failures to help others get along!

What can DRYCAS offer you? With DRYCAS you will be able to:
	- send and receive electronic mail and files on the Internet
	- access Internet with real-time conferencing
        - use GOPHER and LYNX
	- access NetNews
	- play games on-line
	- meet new and interesting people

To connect to DRYCAS, you will either need to TELNET in from a remote Internet
site or use our local Pittsburgh dialup numbers. If you live outside the
Pittsburgh general area, you may wish to consider using a local dialup service
such as SprintNet's PC Pursuit or PSInet, but these do cost a fair bit and
you would have to make arrangements with those companies for access to their
networks. At present, these are the only ways to connect to DRYCAS.

If you are still interested in joining, simply send your name, address, and
phone number where I can reach you in the evening, along with a check made
payable to CMU Computer Club, to:

			CMU Computer Club
			UC Box 51
			5032 Forbes Avenue
			Pittsburgh, PA 15213

Also, please include three possible usernames (between 1 and 8
characters long, and an initial password. You will be contacted upon
activation of your account. To ensure security, we also request a
copy of a photo ID with your address and birthdate. This is for our
records and will not be distributed. If you have a computer account
somewhere else, please let us know what that account is. If you have
a fax number and prefer receiving confirmation via fax, please include
that. Once we receive your payment and the necessary information, we
will contact you.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact us via
