Responsibilities:
- Upgrade two LANs from Novell 3.11/3.12 to 4.10, consolidating five servers into three.
- Install and repair PC hardware.
- Upgrade a 486 PC to become a Novell 4.10 tape backup server using Arcserve6.
- Day to day administration and support of two Novell 4.10 LANs and 3 servers
(approximately 180 users) spread across the Office of Financial Aid, Office of
Admissions, Office of the Registrar and Student Athlete Support Services.
- Evaluate and recommend hardware and software improvements.
- Troubleshoot and assist user base with Windows 95, Word, Excel, Word Perfect, Access
and IBM mainframe applications.
- Install and update ACD Phone manager for the Office of the Registrar.

Responsibilities:
Technical/Programming
- Developed and maintained sophisticated programs to receive and make available for
disbursement more than 90 million dollars worth of Electronic Funds Transfers (EFT)
annually.
- Analyzed the capabilities of the new Financial Aid system and designed a framework of
reports to support the data needs of the Office of Financial Aid (while assigned to the
Student Information System project).
- Analyzed the computing needs of the Office of Financial Aid and contributed
significantly to the design of a Local Area Network for OFA.
- Reviewed advances in software and technology and made recommendations for
improvement of the OFA LAN; installed new software and assured that it would function
smoothly in the existing environment.
- On-demand analysis and programming support for a variety of Financial Aid needs using
DYL 280 II, MVS/XA JCL and SAS.
- Monitored and maintained functionality of OFA mainframe programming environment
Training/Support
- Provided basic instruction on use of the Local Area Network to new employees; trained
student employees in all aspects of systems support.
- Sophisticated programming support for all aspects of the MSU Financial Aid system; on
demand reporting from complex mainframe database.
- Complete support for 100 stations on 2 Novell 3.11 Local Area Networks.

- Developed streamlined download procedures, reducing effort required for maintenance;
developed procedure for uploading to client output files.
- Assisted in project piloting DYL 280 II as a client based computing language. Created
JCL framework to permit execution of client DYL jobs through Panvalet Online.

Responsibilities:
Primary consulting support for 100+ Easytrieve users. Responsible for teaching monthly classes
and modifying/creating course materials as needed. Maintained and generated end-user
computing JCL (for daily and production scheduled use). Administrated end-user computing
environment. Consolidated redundant execution JCL into centralized procedures. Piloted
Personal Manager calendaring product; developed service offering. Administered Personal
Computer loan program and associated training, including development of course materials and
forms.
