Honors
Tournament authors should be aware of the following list of available Knightly Honors, which may be written into a scenario. Authors should make it clear to event judges that a knight may obtain only one honor for a given deed. For example, in the tournament "The Court Of The Crimson King" two honors were offered. One was general to all knighthoods, while the other was specific to Griffon knights and Griffon knight-squires. Griffon knights and Griffon knight-squires were not allowed to receive both honors, but were offered the honor specific to their order.
Knightly honors should be rare and difficult to obtain. Be advised that HQ will put a cap on the number of tournaments per year that may offer an honor. Scenarios with a low level of difficulty would be the first to lose the opportunity to offer an honor.
Honors specific to the Knights of the Raven may not be obtained by anyone other than a Raven Knight, but they may be included in a tournament as a plot device.
| A Leopard Skin Cloak | Awarded to a knight who risks his or her own life to save the life of a defenseless innocent. | |
| A Weapon of Honor | An expertly crafted non-magical weapon given to the winner of a tournament. | |
| The Grass Crown | Awarded to a knight whose individual action have saved an army in the field (awarded in an event involving miniature battles). | |
| The Oak Leaf Crown | Awarded to a knight who risks his or her own life to save the lives of fellow knights in battle. | |
| The Laurel Crown | For leading a military unit or adventuring party to victory against a very powerful opponent in time of war. | |
| The Hero's Circlet | A silver circlet that is given to a knight who defeats a great threat in single combat. Usually this represents a duel to the death. | |
| The Bronze Cloak Pin | A bronze symbol of the knight's current order. This award is given to knights for gallantry against a superior foe. | |
| The Gold Cloak Pin | A gold symbol of the knight's current order. This is awarded to a knight who sacrificed his own life so that a vital mission for the safety of Ravens Bluff would succeed. (If the body is recovered the knight's order will pay for the raise dead, if it can not be recovered the money will be used for prayers for the knight's immortal soul at the temple of his choice.) | |
| The Jeweled Pin | For rescuing a kidnapped member of the Ravens Bluffs nobility and successfully capturing the person or persons responsible for the cowardly, ignoble crime. | |
| The Hero's Cup | A bronze drinking horn, given to knights by the Lord Mayor, whom presents it to knights who successfully bring a major evil doer in to the city authorities for justice. The evil doer must be alive and must have presented a clear and certain danger to the city. | |
| Key to the City | A small platinum key that can be worn on a key ring. This is given to the knight who recognizes that a magic item, or artifact, is too powerful to be left in the hands of those who recovered it and turns the item over to the proper city, or knighthood authorities. | |
| The Red Crystal | The glowing crystal fits into a normal sized human's hand, and looks very nice on a desk. It is given to a knight for braving enemy lines to bring help to a trapped and cut off military unit, that would otherwise be destroyed. | |
| Personal Banner | The knight's personal symbol and the seal of Ravens Bluff will be artistically placed on a banner that will be used during tournaments, and in time of war, to identify a true hero and those that stand with the knight. It is also common for the banner to fly over any holdings owned by the knight. The banner is presented to heroes who save the city from a terrible destructive menace such as the wrath of an ancient huge dragon or a Tarrasque. | |
| Red Pennant | This small flag of honor bears the seal of Ravens Bluff and a symbol of small ship on a red field. It is awarded to a knight who goes to sea and defeats a pirate threat to the city, or the city's commerce. The knight should capture some of the pirate leadership alive so the city can make an example of how it now punishes robbers of the sea. | |
| Blue Pennant | This small flag of honor bears the seal of Ravens Bluff and a symbol of a flaming torch on a blue field. It is awarded to knights who go deep into the depths of the earth and defeats a great threat to the city from one of the evil powers that reign there, such as the Drow or the Illithid. | |
| The Fellowship Ring | A knight earns this green sapphire jeweled silver ring for doing a great deed to benefit the elves. It is a symbol of friendship that must be earned, for a deed that will not be forgotten -- such as rescuing elven children, recovering and returning an important elvish relic. The Knights of the Hawk hold this honor in great importance. Any Elf seeing a knight with this ring will view the character as an Elf friend. | |
| The Cold Forged Hammer | The war hammer is earned by a knight who proves by his actions that he or she deserves respect from dwarves. The knight must have learned to speak dwarven and have done a great service for the benefit of dwarven peoples, i.e. recovered and returned a dwarven relic or artifact, aided a royal heir to recover his throne, slain a great enemy that holds a dwarven stronghold and aiding its return to the dwarven people. The hammer is not magical but it is +1 to hit and damage because of quality. Any dwarf seeing a knight with this weapon will view the character as a true friend. | |
| The Blue Scarf | Given to a knight who succeeds in destroying an evil artifact. | |
| The Black Scarf | A knight who succeeds in destroying, a spell using evil undead -- vampire or lich -- receives the black scarf. | |
| The Green Scarf | Lifting a great curse on the land such as a plague or pestilence. | |
| The White Scarf | Finding an innocent person under a terrible curse and using the knight's powers, skills and other abilities to free the tortured soul, then tracking down the evil spell caster who made the curse and bringing them to justice. |
Each honor is a special 2,000 gold piece gemstone that appears to contain a flame frozen within it. To sell one of these gems is to lose all honor and rights of knighthood in this order.
