Personal History: Brighton James came from a proper British family, raised with proper British values and a proper British inheritance coming to him upon his majority. A carefree dilettante, Brighton had great intelligence and potential, but little desire to do anything worthwhile with it. While attending Oxford, he decided to study abroad in Egypt through the archeology department. While exploring the pyramid tomb of a long-dead pharaoh, the study team found something that was not meant to be disturbed. Brighton could never remember the details, but the image of two glowing red eyes haunts him every night in his sleep.
When he had recovered from the trauma of the incident that claimed the lives of his friends and colleagues, young Mr. James realized that he had a duty to warn the world of the danger his team had uncovered in the Sahara Desert. He had managed to somehow hide a small papyrus scroll upon his person while fleeing the pyramid. He approached a trusted member of the archeology department and revealed the truth of the incident to him, along with the scroll. Together they determined that the scroll contained secrets beyond the dreams of any archeologist...the power of true magic! Moreover, it revealed that the use of such magics was dangerous, for a being of ancient power and evil had entered the world, corrupting the magical weave of the entire world!
Brighton studied the scroll, eventually translating and learning the secrets of wizardry. His mentor, secretly a member of a qabal dedicated to the fighting of supernatural evil, recruited Brighton into their ranks. Now a full professor of archeology, Professor Brighton James is becoming known to the public as a stalwart adventuring archeologist. In private, he is always on call to perform tasks for his qabal, awaiting the sign of the white rose to go forth and do their bidding!
