Well, when I started a new campaign (SpecForces one) I decided to
create detailed description of the Sector HQ for Venator sector
(Which, BTW, I placed on Dalroon 5. Yes, that Dalroon 5...), and when
I was creating the SpecForces commander, a bit of info about droid
discrimination (loooong before the *heated* (<grin>) Droid rights
debate) sparked an idea in my head.

Major D3Z0-CMBT-2-X (Sir Dee-Twoex) was born. (Hmmm... No, as a
matter of fact I didn't know about the K-3P0 till recently)

Dee-Twoex was created by a Venatori Freedomfighters team, even
before the creation of VF. Basically, they took a very old,
disabled combat droid from one of the Old Republic droid labs,
CMBT-2-X, to help them when they needed serious firepower. CMBT-2-X,
BTW, looked a bit like those bipedal droids from Robocop, with two
chainguns. They also upgraded him a bit by replacing one of the
miniguns with a light repeating blaster...

However, the droid quickly became psychotic, and they had to
deactivate him. That's when one of the technicians decided to try and
perform a bit of droid surgery on his own.
He implanted a protocol droid brain (from a recently destroyed
protocol droid D3Z0) into CMBT-2-X, and fitted both brains with a
direct transmission link.

The resulting creation, while having a slight case of split
personality, performed brilliantly, and quickly rose through the
local ranks. When Venatori Freedomfighters joined the Alliance,
Dee-Twoex was already a 2nd lieutenant, and a local hero.

Rebel command had no choice but to give him an "official" rank in RA
forces. After a few years, the droid attained command position in
Venator sector. And it annoys my players to no end.

(Of course, they don't like droids mainly because of their charming
Gonkite power-droid gone astromech, RU-GR8T. And yes, I stole the
name from the list, too... ;P)
