They can only be programmed with the complete medical records of a limited number of beings, thus making them perfect monitors during extended flights. They can administer first aid and perform simple surgical operations. They are considered the "country doctors" of space. IA recently upgraded its MD-5 series, coming to realize the fact that the old Analytical Computer brain they were using was, in fact, flawed. They had issued some patch hardware, but the MD-5 was still operating only at around 80%. So, they coupled their best analytical brain with some of the innovations of the AA-1 VerboBrain, and ended up with the ABMD1 ScienceBrain. The MD-5 became about as skilled as your average doctor. Another plus of the ABMD1 is that the MD-5 started to develop personality. (yet another plus of the brain). And yet another innovation of the ABMD1: programmers can wipe the memory banks of the droid without wiping its personality (or vice versa, if they so choose). Current patient limit of the MD-5 is about 50. Some of MD-5's stuff might be quoted from 2nd Edition SWSB, I dont remember. if you liked it, mail me and tell me so. if you hated it, and wish to cause me great harm, mail me and tell me.
