Here's a little something I cooked up recently for my big-game hunter 
character.  WARNING:  I shot a Krayt Dragon with this thing and it only 
made the rascal mad...

    Armament Technologies Research

ATR-1 blaster rifle
	The ATR-1 was originally designed as a big-game rifle, but has quickly 
gained favor among law enforcement and military units as a powerful long-range 
sniping rifle.  Beginning with a standard Merr-Sonn 3Z light repeating blaster, 
the armorers at ATR added three more XCiter and actuating module assemblies 
into a serioloop array.  The trigger has been reworked to allow only single 
shot operation; this is because the standard power pack can only power one shot 
before it must be replaced.  Due to the massive amount of energy generated by 
the serioloop array, the barrel had to be redesigned with much more extensive 
galven circuitry and a small cryo-cooling system.  The resulting unit is closer 
in size to the barrel of a concussion grenade rifle than that of a blaster.  
Even with the new barrel assembly, the weapon is not capable of sustained fire. 
 In a field trial, an ATR-1 was connected to an E-web generator that was 
filtered down to produce an output level in keeping with the standard power 
pack levels.  After seven shots, the test rifle exploded.  Laboratory analysis 
indicated the high energy levels outpaced the cryo-coolant's ability to 
dissipate the heat, shattering the static pulse adapters in several places 
along the barrel.  Without the SPAs regulating the galven pattern, the energy 
from the excited blaster gas released prematurely.  After months of thorough 
trials and laboratory checking, ATR has determined that as long as the rifle is 
not fired at a consistantly high rate, the cooling system is sufficient to 
maintain the integrity of the SPAs.
