DEX is -1D. Capsule: The Equalizer was BlasTech's first and last venture into the personal weapons platform market. An older design, the Equalizer saw extensive use in the last months of the Clone Wars, but it is not an antiquated or elderly model. In fact, the Equalizer is still the best of several types of personal weapons platforms. It was intended to turn a lone trooper into a heavy weapons platform, but without the bulk of a walker frame, such as in the AT-PT design. A small backpack power cell rides on the user's back. It is connected to dual blaster barrells mounted on the user's shoulders. A complex plastoid harness braces the Equalizer on the user's upper torso, allowing the back and legs to absorb the recoil. Controls to fire the Equalizer are mounted on the user's waist. To fire, the person need only reach down to dual firing sticks and depress either trigger. The Equalizer will not fire both barrells at the same time, and trying often causes a hangfire. However many troopers have panicked and jerked both triggers at the same time, resulting in their untimely death when the Equalizer jams. An advantage is that it has a relatively rapid fire rate, able to fire both barrells in less than five seconds. BlasTech G-12 Equalizers are most often seen in planetary militias, rebel cells, and occasional mercenary group. The image of a rebel dissenter, with an Equalizer unit mounted on his shoulders, mowing down Imperial stormtroopers became a common sight in the holomedia. Soon after the Emperor came to power the Equalizer lost popularity. BlasTech had orders to fill for its new E-11 rifle, and it ceased production of the Equalizer. The new repeating blasters became the most popular heavy weapons of the day. Gradually the G-12 Equalizer faded into the background. But darned if they aren't powerful! Just imagine a pirate boarding party using Equalizers, or perhaps a planetary sec force firing indiscriminately into a crowd of rioting citizens.... Anyway, please tell me what you think. We're snowed in today, and I have nothing to do but sit around and make up stats! :-( Patrick rollens@your-net.com
