Date: 95-08-19 20:17:03 EDT From: QKumber1 To: Jae+sw-rpg@dryca Once more, the QKUMBER has arrived to enlighten and entertain, but seriously, how about a little more actual RPG posts? You may or may not have seen any of my posts but I'm ju' trying to bring back more of the actual point of this mailing liist. Even though I'm a newbie to this list, from what I can see you guys (well, some of you.) are also trying to do the same thing. People should do more stuff like TAFS, ya' know? This place would be really cool if lots of people posted stats and other stuff that others can use in their game... Oh, yeah, just in case. For those of you who use AOL 2.5 you should read and write your mail off-line. This would be a lot easier for you guys who currently don't do that. You'd have smaller bills to pay and you could write more without worrying. Well, since I've just said all that stuff, I'd better follow up with something, or it would seem like a lot of BS, sooooo... ::DRUM ROLL PLEASE:: The Light Boomerang (whatta' ya' want? It's not that easy to just come up with ideas. WELL FINE!!!!) This is just an idea I had while watching Mad Max (I think). There was this small child with a wicked, double edged blade boomerang. She used a gauntlet to catch and throw it, but it was way cool! I mean it chopped off people's heads and limbs and then came right back to her! So I figure, what the hell: SCALE: Character SKILL: Light Boomerang RANGES: See Below DAMAGE: 5D COST: Unavailable for sale NOTE: If attacker misses the throw or catch difficulty by more than 10 points the boomerand either is activated too early and inflicts damage on the throwers hand, or isn't caught, and inflicts damage randomly). The Light Boomerang is thought long gone. It was once, during the time of the Old Republic, a highly prized weapon. But its technology and use has been forgotten by all but a few. The Light Boomerang, like its counterparts the light whip and light sabre, uses crystal and mirror technologyto create a lighter than air field of great power around the main core of the boomerang. When not activated, this weapon looks like a tiny (1mm in thickness) metal boomerang, but with no curves or bends that a proper boomerang would have. Rather than the typical 1-3 crystal lightsaber, the Light Boomerang is laced in extremely small, and painstakingly cut parts of crystal. It can only be activated telekenticaly, otherwise the user's fingers would be instantly removed upon activation. The user throws the boomerang, using his control and alter powers to steer, activate, and return it to their hand. Attempting to use this weapon without intense training is suicidal. CONTROL SENSE AND ALTER POWER SKILL: Light Boomerang CONTROL DIFFICULTY: Moderate ALTER DIFFICULTY: Easy This Power may be kept "up" EFFECT: To use a Light Boomerang at all, a Jedi must have and be properly trained in this skill. This Skill allows the user to direct his Light Boomerang to its intended target and from its intended target back to the user himself. This power, like Lightsaber Combat, must be called upon at the begginning of the battle. It can remain up until the Jedi using the power drops it, is stunned, or injured. If it has been dropped, the Jedi may attempt to bring it back up. If the Jedi is successful in using this power, he may add his control to the damage of the Light Boomerang. If the Jedi is successful in his alter roll he has successfully turned on the boomerang when it is not in danger to him (roll this after he initiates attack), and adds his alter to the skill roll of Light Boomerang Combat. Ranges: 2-4 (moderate)/-20 (difficult)/21- (very difficult). But for every multiple target after the 3rd (that would be a total of 4 targets), subtract -2D rather than -1D. This represents the more difficult it is to hit and have it ricochete and return. When attempting to throw the boomerang at more than one person, add the difference in the range between targets to the range.. So if a Jedi threw his boomerang at three different people, the first standing 10 meters away, the second 15, and the third 20: The skill roll would be difficult. (10+5+5). If he threw it at 4 people, one standing 10 meters away, the other 11, the other 15, and the other 20, the target number would be difficult again (10+1+4+6). Also, the same thing is done when the Jedi attempts to ricochete the boomerang backwards. i.e. he throws it at a target 20 meters away and wants it to ricochete to another taget 10 meters away the difficulty would be Difficult (20+10). In order to catch the Light Boomerang an Alter Roll (easy) must be made to turn it off, and a Light Boomerang skill (Difficult) must be made to catch it. Well, there it is. It's a little sketchy but I liked the idea so hey. If you find any problems with the system, indescrepancies, or that I completely screwed it up and it makes no sense (which you will undoubtedly find), just write a message. Well, I'll write you guys later... QKUMBER1
