Fair warning--this thing's a brute. Prax Arms Gyro Sniper Rifle A development of the gyrorocket system initially proposed by Prax Arms 12 years ago, the Prax Gyro fires a rocket-propelled, gyrostabilized shell. Through the use of advanced sensor technology, the shell homes in on the weapon's laser-designated target. The designator's integral rangefinding computer determines such factors as wind/speed direction, distance to target, and so forth, and then vectors the shell through use of its steering jets towards the target. Lowlight and infrared capabilities are built in. The incredible stopping power and long range of the Gyro have earned it the nickname "Lightning" among the military snipers. Its ammunition is quite expensive, selling at 400eb for a case of 50 shells. (Availability 2, R) Note: Because a rocket shell takes time to reach full velocity, the weapon does 3d6+2 with no bonus to fire control at 75 meters or less. MODEL: Prax Arms Gyro Sniper Rifle SCALE: Character SKILL: Missile weapons RANGES: 5-75/800/1.2km (Note: The weapon is ineffective at less than 5 meters, due to the projectile's very low velocity at these ranges. The shell is ejected from the barrel by compressed air, and ignites once clear of the weapon.) DAMAGE: 7d6+2 Armor-Piercing (Any armor worn is treated as one-half effectiveness against this round.) AMMO: 6 COST: 3500 (Availability 2,X) Personal Addendum, Corporal [name deleted], Imperial Army: The Lightning's one of the best weapons I've ever used, but be certain to carry a blaster pistol when you take this thing into the field. The Lightning will kill anything short of a full-on combat droid with one shot, but if your position is discovered and overrun, it's just another big, clunky rifle. In addition to anti-personnel work, this gun is handy for taking out sensor and communication antennae, and some vehicle armor is weak enough to be susceptible to the gyro shell. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ These are my opinions, and don't represent those of the University.
