Shut in by the rain this weekend, I stayed up and beat the game. Thank goodness for cheat codes! It got me thinking about the differences between the computer game and the RPG and sparked an adventure idea in my head. The Alliance sends their crack special ops team (i.e. the PCs) on a very dangerous mission, a mission so dangerous, in fact, that the group is getting some help from famed mercenary-for-hire, Kyle Katarn. Unfortunately, the PCs discover that Kyle has but one solution to any given problem: shoot everybody. During the first encounter, the PCs need to get some information from someone in your basic Cantina. Kyle says, "I'll handle it," walks into the barroom, pulls out a plasma gun or concussion rifle and starts shooting. From there the hilarity ensues. The PCs, of course, take the blame for Kyle's handiwork and assuming they don't try to kill the guy (which won't work; he's got all those extra lives saved up) they have to figure out how to accomplish their goals without Kyle destroying anything that moves. I envision Three's Company-like chaos as Jack keeps Kyle busy chasing after imaginary stormtroopers and kell dragons while Chrissy saves the day. I imagine this might be better for anti-hack'n'slash parties.
