It includes information about our campaign and is a helpful resource for both GM and players. While the actual information might not of use to you, the format certainly will. Comments are appreciated... -Devin Clancy (dc4109a@american.edu) p.s. some of the info. came from published adventures that were played in the campaign, but not much of it. Also contributing was Chuck Diamond (cd1866a@american.edu) ---------------------------------DCGUIDE.TXT--------------------------- General stuff for all Rebels to know: This file is for all new players and can be updated at any time. A new version is compiled following each adventure, but radical changes occur only every few adventures. It's a good idea to ask for a new copy every six episodes, particularly if you weren't participating. It is available on disk or paper. All characters are assigned to a special operations team comprised of those Rebels who have the odd combination of skill and personality. These special ops teams were formed when it was realized that Luke, Han, Chewie, Ben and the two droids rescued the princess from the Death Star when the Alliance didn't have a clue where she was, much less any hope of organizing a strike on the station. Your team is an almost autonomous group and commssioned as officers in any of the three services. Members of the Alliance in the ground forces are considered in the "Army", those on Capital ships are in the "Navy", and those who are strictly fighter pilots are in the Starfighter Corps. However, both the Army and Navy have starfighter pilots too so the services often intermix. The time is currently about 16 weeks after the Battle of Yavin (the climax of the first movie). The Empire Strikes Back takes place in about three years, and Return of the Jedi about six months after that. Get a copy of the Player's Timeline for more detailed information. The area you currently operate in is the Argus Region. The main regional command base, Helix Base, has been evacuated to Nexus Base on the planet Fangol, just at the edge of the Middle Rim of the Empire. Operations began here after several planets in the sector decided to join the Alliance. Until recently, the Argus Region has been quiet in terms of Rebel activity. The mission of the Rebels here is to divert Imperial resources from their search for the Rebel Main Fleet (where Admiral Ackbar, Mon Mothma, Leia, Luke, R2-D2 and C-3PO are now). This will give the Alliance leadership a much better chance of evading the Imperials. The commander of the Rebel Nexus Base is Colonel John H. Carlton. Major Lens Rekeene, who recruited some of you, was the Executive Officer and has been reassigned to the command of "Home", a Tsukkian Water Hauler converted into a large mobile command and strike base in the Fakir Sector. She is about 50 years old and has been with the Alliance since its beginning. That's all you know about her, except that she has declined her last two offers of promotion. Nexus Base has a wing of X-wings, a wing of Y-wings, a wing of A-wings, the freighter Talon, (like the Millenium Falcon only about 50% of the capability), several Corvettes, the freighter Sullust Tramp (like the Millenium Falcon only about 15% of the capability), two shuttles, a light transport, a planetary shield and an Ion cannon. Its current complement is in flux due to the recent evacuation of Helix Base. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Rebel History in the Argus Region: Nexus Base was established shortly after the Battle of Yavin and a network of listening posts were set up around the sector. During construction, an Imperial Spy sent a message to the Star Destroyer Relentless which gave the locations and movement schedules of all the Rebel ships in the Kaleel sector. This message was subsequently intercepted by the Iron Comet while the ship was near Argonis-2, but no one on the base bacame aware of this for several weeks. Special Assault Team One, including the group that had managed to save the computer from Yavin base, and a few others from SpecForces were assigned to Nexus. Their first mission was to check on a listening post in the Kameck Asteroid Belt, which they found abandoned. At the post they also discovered that the Frigate Warspite, which had destroyed the listening post, was now on its way to attack Nexus Base. The Team promptly returned to the under-defended base and devised a plan to disable the Frigate. Disguised as a disabled freighter, the Talon was brought aboard and Lt. Merin and Lt. Tampaarac went about planting explosives in the main power junction while Lt. Killah kept the Imperials busy. Once the explosives went off, the ship was disabled and Lt. Merin, with the help of the Imperial Lt. Paylon (who defected during the battle), rescued the crew of the listening post. Soon, the Mon Calamari Cruiser Maximus arrived and took the Warspite away to refit for use by the Alliance. At about the same time, the leaders of the planet Hakari sent word to the base that they were ready to join the Alliance. Major Rekeene and 2nd Lt.'s Merin, Starchaser, Catharna and Tampaarac were sent as escorts. The mission was a success and the team safely made it back to Nexus Base. Upon their return, Lt. Merin did a great deal of work on the Talon, installing shields and improving the hull, along with a few other things. Shortly after this, Alliance High Command ordered the team to infiltrate the Imperial Data Center on Motat VII and find Senator Argo Shade. Senator Shade was recovered, along with an aging Jedi Knight, Lokai Penovis, who was marooned on the second moon of Farben. Shortly thereafter, Merin, Chandra, and Vitar volunteered to take the Talon to Star City to pick up some vital supplies for the base. Meanwhile, Lt. Catharna, Lt. Kortua, Lt. Killah, and the newly arrived Flight Cadets Revenne Rehteaf and Kimber Boh were sent to protect the Assault Craft Iron Comet, whose hyperdrive had broken down. Succesfully defending the ship, they met Lt. Ritten who said he wanted to speak to Major Rekeene. He told the major that he had information about a message sent from Nexus to the Star Destroyer Relentless and while he went to get it, he was murdered by the spy posing as chief cook Penthar. The group that rescued the Iron Comet was asked to investigate since none of them were on the base when the message was sent. Through shrewd investigation, the team discovered the identity of both the murderer and the sender of the Kaleel Sector information. He was given a truth serum and told them where he was trying to escape to. Using a homing beacon, they tracked him to the Fakir Sector Capital Planet, Levora-2. Upon the Talon's return, one group was sent off in the Storm Shadow to track the spy and to pick up Colonel John H. Carlton, the new Nexus Base Commander. They discovered that the spy was from COMPNOR, the Commitee for the Preservation of the New Order. This implied the existence of another possible spy at the base. In response to this, and the disappearance of the Storm Shadow, Major Rekeene sent the Talon to the Fakir Capital also. The Talon then completed the Storm Shadow's mission and transported Col. Carlton to the base. Carlton assumed command, and Major Rekeene took her original post as Executive Officer. After consulting with Col. Carlton, Lt. Tampaarac and the Elf, Kain, departed with Lokai Penovis and a Y-wing fighter. Special Assault Team One's prowess has reached the ears of Alliance High Command, which has seen fit to occasionally assign the team to trouble spots across the galaxy. The scope of their missions has increased since this development. Shortly after solving the Crisis on Calamari, the Warspite again arrived in orbit around Nexus Base. This time it was crewed by loyal Rebels disguised as Imperials. The Warspite was used to insert a team into the Interdictor Demise and capture it. Then, in an unprecedented attack, the Iron Comet, Maximus, Destiny, Warspite and Demise coordinated an assault on Imperial Supply Depot 431. Unfortunately, Lt. Killah, Lt. Tampaarac, Ensign Kain Nagori and Lt. Starchaser were lost, and presumed compromised and dead at the hands of Imperial Forces. Because they were captured, it was assumed that the Imperials would learn the location of Nexus Base, so evacuation procedures were begun. While the evacuation took place, Special Assault Team One had been reassigned to the Region Command Base in the Mortex Sector. Following this reassignment they were ordered to return to Yavin Eight and retrieve the Yavin Base computer core they had left there. Upon arrival, they learned that the human expedition on Yavin Eight had infected the Gerbs, the natives of the planet. However, they managed to cure the natives and get the computer back. Soon after, the remainder of Special Assault Team One managed to rescue its captured members while on a supply run to Star City. While on this supply run, the team found out about the Super Star Destroyer Imminent and Grand Moff Karif, newly assigned to the Argus Region. This rescue of the captured members has precluded the necessity of evacuating Nexus Base, and has returned Special Assault Team One to full strength. Helix base's location was compromised when the supply train Black Ice was captured. A large fleet formed up in the Texhulic system, the location of the base. Following an extended seige, a Tropedo Sphere was brought in to take down the planetary shield. Luckily, Special Assault Team One managed to destroy the sphere by sacrificing the Black Ice. The base was evacuated and all hands were saved. Lt. Commander Max, a bureaucrat from Helix base was then assigned to Special Assault Team One when it was sent to look for a home for the displaced residents of the base. Along with Merin and Lacerta, a chameleon-like humanoid they managed to buy some land on Tandelou 6 in the Mitus system. At the same time, Ensign Allion Garth contacted Saab, the Twi'lek Gambler on Cloud City about purchasing a much-improved light repeating blaster prototype. After a bit of travelling they returned to Nexus Base and Colonel Carlton offered the Gambler a commission. Since the weapon was left on Bespin, Chandra, Ravenne, Kain and Vitar went to retrieve it. At the same time, they travelled to System 587-C41 and brought back the Y-wing Vitar and Kain had borrowed. Along with Lokai Penovis, the two Jedi trainees went to Ord Sennar where they trained for a time and again faced the evil Commander Prang. At around the same time a new colony was established on Tandelou 2 in the Mitus system for the refugees from Helix Base. During the initial set up for the base, Nirmin, Merin and Siempar helped capture a new starfighter design, the Rapier. Home, the new base was in need of supplies to begin operations in the Fakir Sector. Colonel Carlton sent Lt. Cmdr. Max, Captain Catharna, Lt. (jg) Nagasaki and Ensign Saab in the Talon to get these supplies from Harbin Maelstrom, a sympathetic Senator from Galvia. En route they were brought aboard the Star Destroyer Vanguard and they met Captain Garlow who wished to offer information to the Alliance. He allowed them to escape and then proceed to Galvia where they met Senator Maelstrom. Unfortunately, Grand Moff Karif chose this time to visit Galvia with the Immenent, Relentless and Glory. The group made a hasty escape with Harbin and returned to the Argus Fleet. At about the same time, Merin was helping a stranded Lambda-class shuttle make its way back to Nexus Base. He arrived to find the Talon severely damaged, but didn't have time to work on it, as he soon departed on board the Iron Comet I to particpate in the first data retrieval mission from the Vanguard. It was successful and paved the way for the attempt to liberate Fliter, a Rebel safeworld that had been attacked some months earlier.
