Math in the future!) and 7d+2 for damage. >I, of course, insist that they also purchase new software (Shoot'em 3.1) and >upgrade their power supplies or face major complications on the wild die. We hammered this out earlier on in this list...to calculate damage for additional guns in a single hardpoint (ie a turret) you use the combined action bonuses for damage increases as follows 1. Use the Combined Damage rules from the 2nd ed. rulebook for figuring damage in weapon combinations that occur in a single hardpoint (ie. a turret or fighter configuration.) eg : X-wing - 4 lasers, @ 4D dam +2d for fire link = 6D damage! Falcon Quads - 4 lasers, @ 4D dam +2d for fire link = 6d damage! Y-wing - 2 lasers, @ 4d dam +1d for fire link = 5d damage! Keep in mind this is using Andrew's suggested 4d modern military blaster standard (thanks again!!) 2. The Fire-Linkage rules in GG6: Tramp Freighters refer to firing multiple batteries from one post ie - multiple gun clusters being fired from the weapons station or a single gun cupola/turret rather than manning all gun emplacements. The Falcon's quads are never listed as being fire - linked. If they were, both quad turrets could be fired from the same post!! "Most weapons are designed to be fired individually from the captain's or weapons officer's station. Up to three identical weapons can be linked to fire at the same target simultaneously... Similarly, if a weapon can be fired from two different locations, say, the weapons cupola and the pilot's station, the additional linkage costs 100 credits per weapon." (Tramp Freighters, 1st ed.) Because you are firing additional weapons clusters (turrets, what-have-you), frieghter-style fire linkage leads to an increase in Fire Control. I don't think that just adding guns to a single turret would increase the fire-control bonus...unless you use the rest of your initial idea and make your Tramps "buy" better targetting software and hardware. I have to admit, I really like the idea of making my PC's have to upgrade ALL aspects of their ship's guns ("What was that, Salic? You forgot to increase your power-focussing batteries? Ok, all of a sudden you notice a distinct decrease in ship speed that seems to coincide with firing....want to make any more shots?" - heh.) Hope this helped you out, and thanks for some new ideas. You might want to check out the resource pool for the new ship's targetting systems that were posted there a while ago. ********************************************************************** D.
