Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT Priority: normal 2 super quick, super easy gambling "simulations". ------------------------------------------------- For anyone interested I thought I'd mention a "house-rule" gambling game my group use... Just like the SW-RPG it's fast, loose & intense. One of my PCs wanted to gamble as we were winding up the adventure this weekend so he went to find a game- He found a high stake game & we handled it like so: Each of the other players played my NPC High-Rollers (a Rodian, a Twi'lek, a Fezfe & a Gamorrian. We quickly created images of our NPCs (the only stat being gambling) based on chance. ---------------------------------------------------- They rolled 2D+2 to determine the number of D the NPC had in gambling. They each rolled 1D ... One = owning the resources of around 3-10 freighters Six = owning the resources of a small moon or Ruling a large colony They pretty much played their resouces according to what they rolled. Then they rolled 1D to determine base honor about how they feel about cheating. One = intolerant of cheating Six = Cheats all the time ---------------------------------------------------- Now I have my NPC players (in less than 1 minute)- their naming the character made it take so long. On to the game... We play a simple game that represents almost every game we name in the SW galaxy (for simplicity). ------------------------------------------------------------------ Make the antee (sp) Everyone rolls 5D (with power die) Use Yatzee (sp) rules for making your "hand". Your power die is the die you can change if you choose to cheat The GM looks at each players "hand" to confirm if the player is attempting to cheat, by turning the power die to what ever they want. If anyone wants to make a gambling check to look for cheating they can. Everyone rolls Gambling & the GM tells the NPC looking for cheaters what he sees (based on if his roll beat any cheaters). This is also a fun time for the GM to "bluff" the Checkers if they fail by telling them they *think* they see so-in-so cheating- to start a brawl... [evil grin] If no one looks for cheating no one sees any. Then begin betting... We do no other rolling, no "card" hits or changes. Just betting until someone calls. Show your "hand", the winner is based on Yatzee rules. ------------------------------------------------------ It's quick, fast paced, simple, & fun. We also tried a quicker higher stakes game... ------------------------------------------------------ Make the antee (sp) GM makes a secret dice roll (a D4, D6, D10, whatever) to determine how many rounds the betting goes before the "cards" are turned, & we have a winner. everyone roll 2D. No cheating- because the game is so quick. make bets around when the bet comes to the "dealer" or all around. reroll your 2D! That's right, everyone reroll, the chance is that you will have the best "hand" when the last round comes (only the GM knows when). ------------------------------------------------------ Both games are super easy, quick & intense. We created the latter game last session "on the fly", & when I announced that it would be last round, we all rolled one by one... With the PC rolling last (the pot was in excess of 100000 credits with several things thrown in as collateral). NPC-1 rolled an 8 NPC-2 rolled an 8 NPC-3 rolled an 8 NPC-4 rolled an 8 (my NPC gambler) PC rolled an 8 *****************-incredible intense coincident we rerolled NPC-1 rolls a 8 2 rolls an 10 3 rolls an 11 4 rolls a 12 (my NPC gambler!!) then the unlucky PC rolls a 6 We all rolled them in front of each other it was like it was scripted... My NPC gambler took it all- he was also the house "dealer", strange coincidents... what do you think? -kevin- Modern technology owes ecology an apology.
