While better known for thier limited production run yachts and thier small utility and maintence runners, the Dagger is a powerful combat craft, capable of handleing a wide varity of targets. While hyperspace rated, it is painfully slow outside of realspace. This is more than compensated by it's increadable atmospheric capabilities. The crew is housed in a stepped cockpit, with the gunner being placed above the pilot. The gunner is assisted by a look-shoot targetting helmet that is slaved to the ion cannon and the multilaunchers, along with sensors, while the pilot's helmet highlights the enviroment, providing valuble navigational data and gunnery cues for the laser cannons. Without these special helmets, performance degrades rapidly. Physically, the Dagger has a slender, aerodynamic body, with variable gemotry S-foils. In space, these are locked to the rearmost position, while in atmosphere, they can swing from 60 degrees forward of center, to 65 degrees rear of center. They ship's computers automatically adjust the s-foils to compensate for speed and angle of attack. The three lasers are mounted in the nose of the Dagger, and at each wing root, while the ion cannon is in a dorsally mounted flat turret. The repeating blasters are mounted in a retractable belly pod that is flanked on either side by the firing ports for the multilaunchers. The Dagger terminates in a trio of ion engines. In techanical weapons notes, the multilauncher magazines can be preloaded. This combined with thier vertical loading from under the ship, means that so long as preloaded magazines are ready, the launchers can be replaced in under an hour. The powercells, blaster gases and consumables are mounted in similiar configurations, each requiring about half hour to replace, so long as there are heavy lift facilities avilable. This means that a fully depleted Dagger that needs nothing more than recharging, air and ammo can be on it's way again about two hours. This compares favorably with the more common Headhunters and Y-Wings, which are lucky to be able to turn around in three and a half hours, as the powercells and magazines mucst be manually, individually replaced, and the blaster gas cannisters refilled rather than replaced. If fresh powercells are not ready, the turn about can take almost twice as long at most facilities. The Dagger has seen some sales to mercinary and corporate forces. The two largest complaints are the slow hyperdrive (and lack of nav comp), and the high price tag. Still, those in service have been known to survive almost anything that can be thrown at them by the legal opposition. It should be note that even though the have respectable speed, they are slower than the TIEs of the Empire. This has given the forces of rightful authority some advantage in the few incidents where Daggers have been used against His Regal Maesties forces. This has been Flight Colonel Mica "Peaches" Mynockkiller reporting for MaAD (and again asking the editor if we can have a less sexist title)." ___________________________________________________________________ Warning: The above documetn has a SCARLET rating from IBC ******************************************************************* ___________________________________________________________________ GM Scoop...
