Capsule: The Veers Heavy Transport is a large cargo transport with an incredibly strong hull, heavy shielding, and good stealth equipment. However, it is lacking in weaponry, so it usually travels in well patrolled space lanes, escorted convoys, or both. Another version of this ship was manufactured illegally by a now defunct corporation, but most of the 1,200 or so made have been unaccounted for, so you may see this design with weaponry, but it is slower (Space: 2) and has no stealth equipment. The Veers, in most spacer's opinions, is an invaluable tool to transport large amounts of cargo or passengers at a small price - IMS uses these at a cost of 100 credits per metric ton. Because these ships carry so much cargo at such a small charge, they are prime targets for piracy and sabotage. That is why an armed escort - usually a Carrack cruiser or Nebulon-B frigate - accompanies the transport at all times except for loading and unloading. Usually this is too expensive, so Imperial Naval Command fits the ships with turbolasers or lasers to deter pirates. Tactical Deployment: As said before, these ships are usually assigned an escort, and if not, they usually have some kind of defensive power other than shields. Naval Command says: Use these with care, because if you don't, the loss will be on your head!
