I think it works out pretty well, in that it fits in with why you never saw it in the movies, and why you don't see them in the New Republic. The Assault Gunboat began it's design shortly after the Battle of Hoth, and the first prototypes were unleashed just before the Battle of Endor. Unfortunately for the Empire, the Assault Gunboat was only under production for a short time, and subsequently only close to about three hundred Gunboats actually finished production, due to the fact that the Empire began it's decline after the Battle of Endor. Nontheless, the Assault Gunboats actually available have proven themselves to be very valuble. The actual spaceframe itself is actually a heavy refinement of the frame of a Lambda-class Shuttle. However, instead of cargo room, there are powerful sublight engines, as well as massive power units to power up the weapon systems on the Gunboat. While some claim that the Assault Gunboat is nothing more than a cheap clone of the Skipray Blastboat, most pilots tend to disagree. The Skipray requires more than one person to operate at a good level of efficiency, and the nav computer and hyperdrive engines on the Gunboat have been tested to be far superior than that of the Blastboat. In addition to the enhanced efficiency, the Assault Gunboat is far less expensive to produce than it's counterpart, another thing which the Empire would have found useful. Typical mission profiles for the Assault Gunboat include standard sector patrols, usually travelling in groups of three, to ensure that Imperial law is being upheld, as well as planetary assault, where the Assault Gunboat can use all of it's weaponry to take down power generators and defensive shields, in order to clear the path for Imperial troops. Oh yeah - If the message appears to be a bit messy, please try to make the best of it. The editor here doesn't allow message uploading, so I'm cutting and pasting, which is really messy. Barry
