Please be sure to read the description or why and how the stats are as they are. I put a lot of time into trying to figure out the story behind the numbers. I would also like as much feedback as you can give both positive and negative as my GM won't allow anything new to the game until he has a zillion opinions on it. My character has the design in his head, he just needs the skills and materials to pull it off. By the way, anyone care to guess the difficulty number on Starship Design for this one? Utilizing simplistic ideas and ignoring cost effectiveness, it's builders were able to create a vessel for both speed, and stealth. All of the parts were canabalized from scrap yards, battle sites, and the occasional "five-finger-discount" shop. The power core was taken from a standard stock light freighter, including the backup power system. The sublight engines are actually a pair of TIE engines working in unison with the help of a disembodied droid brain. Another droid brain coordinates the hyperdrive unit, which is a melding of the drives from 2 X-wings and a stock light. Covering the hull of the ship are the solar panels normally associated with the TIE line of starfighters. As well as providing a cosmetic appeal, these panels help generate the additional power the ship is capable of drawing. The ship was assembled over the course of a year on a remote, low-tech planet after all of the parts had been accumulated. This ship has two distinct transponders and legal identities. Pilot and crew as well carry two forms of ID to match the transponders. The first, and honest identity is Black Arrow, a mercenary ship specializing in dropping off/picking up VIPs in "hot" areas. In the market it is known to pack a solid punch and stand up against any standard starfighters. It's size and speed makes it perfect for jobs that needed to be done yesterday and "never happened". The second identity is the one given to Imperial patrols/authorities. Diamond Head is the prototype of a personal craft for mid/upper level representatives of San-Seneer (sp?), maker of the Imperial TIE fighters. When asked, the representative is either vacationing or seeking new resources, technology, or expansion sites for the company. Hopefully, this excuse will cut some slack with out of the way Imperials that don't want to suffer the wrath of one of their biggest supporters in the private market. To further support this dual identity, rumors have been spread in areas of strong Imperial support that a second prototype was stolen by rebels and armed to the gills illegal weaponry. To meet the legal specifications of a luxury craft, the gun turrets are hidden behind a sliding hull panel. These panels take a full turn to extend/retract and are shielded against scanning equipment. From the interior, the turrets are accessed behind movable walls that contain the actual reserve power cells for the ship. Again, these are concealed and shielded to render them nonexistant to all but the most diligent of searches. Due to their placement, the turrets leave a 60 rear arc uncovered. This problem was met by placing a proton torpedo launcher in a disguised engine exhaust port. Not only does it provide rear fire support, but it is a great surprise against tractor beams, hot shot dog-fighters, and strafing runs. In addition to the turrets, the guns may be fired from the pilot's seat at the loss of fire control. Cockpit weapon controls are located behind the systems monitor board which springs open by pressing the right 3 button combination. The military grade shields would never pass inspection, so a secondary set of civilian grade shield generators has been installed in a more accessable/visible location, because what sort of person would believe a fully functional system was just a decoy. This lesser set of shield does work and is normally used in times of extreme abuse. The sensors provide long range detailed reports, ideal for locating business prospects on a planet, detecting pirates before they attack, or evading enemy patrols. A full compliment of sensor jamming gear as well as a sensor mask are included. The controls for these two illegal systems have been wired into and labled as innocent systems. (ie. turning on the jamming starts the interior musak system while starting the sensor mask dims the cabin lights). This ship is more than just a high grade transport. It is also a luxury craft. A large lounge area provides comfortable seating for the full crew and passengers in acceleration couches or seated at either the holo-table (useful for chess, entertainment, or tactical/technical displays) or sabaac table. The walls are paneled in a light wood native to the planet where the ship was constructed. While the wood has not unique properties, it does help to muffle sound as well as provide the illusion that one is not on a starship. The quarters are forced to use bunks due to space requirements, though the beds are also made of wood versus the standard metalwork. Partions may be erected in the sleeping quarters between bunks for the more modest of guest, often separating the crew from the passengers. A medical bay is provided with bacta facilities and a droid to monitor ongoing conditions as well as for emergency treatment when proper hospitals are not available. The machine shop has most any tool you could think of to fix the ship, a droid, or anything other need that arises. A limited number of spare parts is carried to prevent being marrooned far from civilization. What is not on hand, the crew of the Black Arrow normally "acquires" in the first spaceport they visit. The selling point of this vessel is the use of a repulsor field as an elevator, because civilized folk shouldn't climb stairs. No other ship this size can boast such a lift (though some small building could). Deck plates can be moved into position during transit to conserve power or provide floor space. The galley provides a much wider selection than most ships this class as well as larger stores of fresh foods. The cargo bay has a false wall in the back that appears to be part of the engines. In actuality, it is a door with enough wiring that the engines can monitored through interface ports. Behind it is enough room for a few tons of contraband. Normally, a few military speeders are kept stacked as well as an emergency life support system that is used when transporting larger groups in the hold. ===================================================================
