CAPSULE:
	The Executives at Seinar believed that it was most likely that when
the threat of the Rebel Alliance had been eradicated, the demand for its
product would be diminished.  So they approved the funding for the design of
civilian craft.  The result was the Lambda-class Transport, modeled on the
basic design of the Lambda-class Shuttle, but with a longer, wider and higher
frame.  The crew requirement was reduced from that of the Shuttle with the use
of specialised computer systems and a pair of Seinar Integrated Intelligence
Systems Mark V droid brains.  This was done because private operators would
not appreciate having to expend excessive amounts of money on crew wages.
Access to the cargo area is behind the Cockpit, which raises above the main
body, from which projects a large access ramp.  The three fins on the
transport are longer (along the length of he ship) but project out less,
relative to the shuttle.  Two of the laser cannons are located alongside and
just above either side of the cockpit, the other two are located along the ends
of the lower two fins, which turn to a vertical position before landing,
unlike on the shuttle which go past the vertical and end up poited inwards.
	However, the Empire was taking longer than expected to deal with the
Rebel threat, and so the production run was put on hold after only a limited
run.  Seinar instead concentrated on producing increased orders and R&D funding
from the Imperial military.  Then as the Empire was on the decline and the New
Republic forming, the resources of the Imperial military were diminished and
Seinar updated the design by improving the main hyperdrive, the sublight drive,
maneuverbilty, and using its new SIIS Mk VII droid brains.  Then it was put
back into production.  This versatile, well designed and asthetically elegant
craft was snapped up by the public.
