"The Perfect Organism" Cast: Jade, a Corellian Smuggler Eildath, a Jedi (yes, that Eildath, just younger and Light Side) Surviving Imperial Crew Members Eric, the GM Chris, the Player Jade's stolen YX-2000 prototype medium freighter, the Eagle, soared through space towards the small recreational world of H'dujarr, near the Corporate Sector. Jade and Eildath had about a week to wait for official CSA IDs, so they decided to take some time off. Suddenly, the ship was jerked violently from hyperspace as the mass shadow sensors picked up a large object. Jade and Eildath abandoned their game of dejarik (Eildath was winning again, anyways), and ran to the cockpit. "What the hell happened to that?" Eildath asked as he looked the ship over. "I don't know." The sensors on his ship identified the derelict Star Destroyer. "The ISD Wraithcloak. Hmm, it's been missing for a while, according to the news nets," Eildath noted. "It looks dead," Jade said. "Most of the lights are out, two of the engines are down, and there are several large holes in the ship. All it's doing is flying in a circle." "What the hell is that black stuff?" "Huh?" "Look." The Star Destroyer's bridge and smaller docking bay were covered with an unusual black material, almost biological in nature. Eildath looked concerned. "Are there any survivors on board?" "Yes, there are four groups of people. Two are in the middle of the ship, one is on the bridge, and another is on the forward section, near that hull breach." "Well, I suppose we should rescue them." The ship flew into the main docking bay, connecting up to the proper entrance tube. Eildath and Jade walked inside, heading towards the first group of survivors. As they walked down a dimly lit hall, they discovered the body of an Imperial officer. He had been ripped apart from the inside, as if something had burst from his chest. A small paddle lay by his side. ***** Chris looked up at Eric. "You aren't." Eric looked at his younger sibling. "Trust me." ***** Jade picked up the paddle and turned it on. Hmm, a holographic motion sensor. He strapped it to his light repeating blaster. ***** "Eric?" ****** The two continued to walk down the hall, eventually coming upon the black biomechanical mass they had seen on the outside of the ship. They continued on, slowly, until the motion sensor began beeping. "Jade, there's movement." "I can see that." "By the Force! They're all around us!" "But where?" Then, the sensor was silent. "Hmm," Eildath said, "maybe it was a malfunction?" They eventually reached a clear passage near the surviving crew. "Eildath?" "Yes?" "These people are trapped on the other side of the vacuum. How are we gonna get them out?" "I don't know." "I do! Can you create a telekinetic tunnel, a passageway of oxygen, using the Force?" "I guess..." "Good! You do it, and I'll get the people." "Give me the motion sensor." "OK." Eildath concentrated, summoning his considerable Force abilities. There. He'd done it. Jade ran across. The Imperials did not look good. One man was lying in the corner, groaning. There were several officers, and a a of Stormtrooper. "Who are you?" One asked. "My name is Jade, I've come to help." "Good. Those things are killing us." "Things?" "Yes, horrible creatures. One attack that man in the corner. It eventually let go, but he's been ill ever since." ***** "Eric," Chris said, "I an alien pops out of his chest I will kill you." "C'mon, Chris. Just play the game..." ***** "Come on man, you've got to get out of here." "I can't. I'm too sick." "I'll help. Come on." He walked over to another. "I can't do it. Those things are gonna kill us!" "No, we'll make it," Jade said. "C'mon, do you wanna stay here. I'd rather take my chances making it to the ship than to stay here and die." Jade eventually got them all through. Just as he was making the last trip, the man behind him yelled. "You Rebel scum! I'll kill you!" A blaster bolt flew through the air, and the officer dropped dead. Jade spun around. The Stormtrooper shouldered his smoking blaster rifle. "We have to get out of here, sir," he said. A short time later, they returned to the ship. The Imperials went inside, and Jade closed the door behind them. It was time to press on. Jade and Eildath continued their way down the passageway, coming upon the body of a Stormtrooper. Some bizarre creature had burned into his helmet, and was attached to his face. ***** "Eric, I AM going to kill you." ***** They came to a dark room. Suddenly, their motion sensor went wild as a fight erupted in the darkness. Jade ran for the light switch, but when he got it on, all that remained were dead exoskeltonal bodies, of two distinct "tribes." ***** "You're a dead man." "Shut up, Chris, you knew it was coming." ***** They progressed to the second survivor's area. "Where's the second group?" Jade said. "They should have been here." "Those 'things' must have gotten them." A short, but uneventful while later, they found the third group. The Imperials were webbed to the walls, mostly dead. "Those 'things' did this?" Eildath said, aghast. He was looking at a engine tech when suddenly, the man screamed. "Kill me," he said weakly. "I can't," Eildath answered. "I am not allowed to take life." "What?!" Jade said. "What about that guy you IMPALED on Nar Shadaa?" "Uh, but he had violent intentions. It was self defense." "He was asleep!" "Uh, uh, but he had violent INTENTIONS," Eildath said again. "Ooookay." Jade spun and killed the helpless man. He proceeded to blast everything in sight. "Now on to the bridge, Jedi." "But, all that weird web junk is up there." "So, there should be survivors, and it read safe on our scanners." The turbolift opened on an almost totally dark room. Web material was everywhere, and a large black mass of it filled the bridge and crew pits. "C'mon Jade, there aren't any survivors here, let's scram." "Wait, I detect movement from the bridge pits." He swung his light at the mass, which slowly turned towards him. A vicious, six legged alien hissed, her second jaw pulsing outward. "By the Force!" Eildath said. Look at that thing! Let's get out of here." "No way, we can kill it!" Suddenly, the motion sensor began to pulse. "Look, there's movement everywhere!" Alien forms began to emerge from the webs and shadows. Eildath shoved Jade into the turbolift, and rapidly pressed the down button. The turbolift sped downward, but aliens began to jump onto the top of it. "What do we do now?" Jade asked. "Shake the lift! Maybe it's on a wide enough path that we can jar it and make that thing hit one of the walls!" Eildath and Jade rammed the lift's sides repeatedly. It must have worked, because they heard a high-pitched squeal and a zapping sound. As the turbolift shuddered to a stop, Eildath and Jade ran for their ship. Unfortunately, their way was blocked. Jade, cursed, and pulled out his light repeater, set it on 'auto,' and fired. Alien bodies were strewn across the hall, and Eildath spun around, hacking apart the ones that attacked from behind with his violet lightsaber. They made their way down the hall, but reached a dead end. Jade stared at their ship through the transparisteel window. "I think we're in trouble." Eildath said, "It's not over yet. We can get out through these ventilation shafts!" "Great!" The pair quickly removed the shaft lid, and began their journey. Unfortuately, they were being followed. Eildath was taking up the rear. "Give me your heavy blaster," he said. "Okay," Jade replied, tossing it to him, "but why?" Eildath set the small energy pack on 'overload' and tossed it back the way they came. A moment later, an explosion rocked the shaft. "You could have told me." "Then you wouldn't have given me the blaster." "You owe me, Jedi!" Finally, they arrived back at the Eagle. Moments later the ship was cruising away from the Wraitcloak at maximum speed. The slowed when, amazingly, the massive ship's one remaining engine pulled it into hyperspace, and it vanished. Jade and Eildath began to relax, when suddenly, there was a scream. Jade ran, and found the sick Imperial in his bathroom, clutching his chest. Blood spurted from an unseen wound. Jade pulled his gun as an immature alien forced it's way out. He shot it, and it landed in the toilet. Jade unceremoniously reached over and flushed. Jade and Eildath stood at the main airlock, the body of the dead man wrapped in a sheet. Jade wasn't sure what to do, as the remaining Imperials stared at him. Eildath leaned over to his comrade. "I think they want you to say something," he whispered. "I didn't even know the guy!" he replied. "Well? They probably didn't either." "You do it." "No!" "Yes." "How about I make it a bet." "What," Jade answered, a glint in his eye. "You do it, and if it's received well, I'll clean the bathroom. If not you clean it." "Okay." He turned to the expectant group. "This man, who we are sending to his final resting place, served his ship and the Empire with honor. His loss is tragic, as is the loss of all the crew to those horrid monsters. May he be remembered forever." The Imperials applauded lightly as the airlock closed. With a puff of escaping air, the body shot into space. "Damn," said Eildath as he returned to his chamber. Before returning to hyperspace and going on to H'dujarr, Jade dumped the contents of his waste recycler and made sure the alien baby was dead. He saw the body floating away, and was reassured. ***** THE END ***** Endnotes: Both Eildath and Jade were given Imperial commedations under their false ID names. The ship disappeared, and returned in a later adventure(I'll post that one too, because it was demanded. Also note that the "funeral speech" varied from the one my brother gave. He wasn't prepared to do something like this, and his speech was hilarious at the time. I wish I could have remembered it. Adventure Notes: As I have said, DO NOT roll play the alien battles. ROLE play them, cause they're too intense for dice. Comments: Do you think I was doing a good enough job portraying Eildath as a less-than-perfect Jedi?
