"Han, I have to ask you something." "Go ahead, kid," responded Han. "When you met Leia, did you know you two would eventually get married? I mean, by the time we got to Bakura everyone knew, but did you know at the beginning?" "Between you and me, Luke, I think I knew all the time. Though I think it was something I wasn't especially willing to accept at times." Han paused. "Surely you're not telling me you felt that way about Mara back when she was threatening to leave you for the vornskrs on Myrkr." "No, not then. I think it was after we landed on Coruscant for the second time and began rebuilding. You didn't see much of her, but I did. She was a wreck; I've never felt such emotional scarring as I did in her when the Emperor returned. I think it was helping her through that that began to build up the relationship." Luke was at this point hunting through his closet, looking for an appropriate tunic for the occasion. "I'm telling you, kid, lose the 'stache," Han admonished. "Thanks, Han, I'll keep it in mind," came Luke's muffled voice from the closet. "Luke, I gotta go. Leia and the kids wanted to go grab something to eat at Corrzenville." Corrzenville was the only town worthy of the name on Yavin 4; it had a population of about a thousand and was where most of the Jedi students went for something interesting to do. "Have fun. Back tonight, I hope?" responded Luke as he poked his head out of the closet. "What, you afraid I'll miss the parties?" said Han with that lopsided grin of his. ------ Mara had arrived late the previous night. She'd turned the Jade's Fire over to Fynn Torve and that new Calamari navigator Tralkpha she'd just hired; she had some reservations about it, as she'd been dimly aware of a steady stream of communications from Coruscant over the past month as she and Luke had planned the wedding details. Most of the hardcopy she'd seen had borne the official seal of Rogue Wing, an indication that Luke's maniac pilot friends were in on it as well. She now sat quietly on a park bench near the temple, on the edge of the temple's artificially-enhanced gravity field. The moon's 20-day nightcycle would begin in about three days; they'd agreed to time the wedding day to moonset. Mara idly wondered what part of the orbit Yavin 4 had been in when the Death Star attack began; Luke had once said the trip from Alderaan to Yavin had taken roughly three days going flat out. Suddenly, Mara was startled by a voice behind her. (to be continued...) /Coach
