Date: Fri, 21 Oct 94 16:12:31 EDT From: Devin Clancy Subject: System Guide-- Mitus System This is an original system for 2ND Edition Star Wars, designed with the use of Planets of the Galaxy vol. 1 and including a small amount of material from the adventure "Riders of the Maelstrom". -Devin Clancy (dc4109a@american.edu) -----------------------------------MITUS.TXT--------------------------- System J-25, Mitus, Argus Sector The Mitus system is on a trade route (the Relgim Hyperspace) that runs from the famous Maelstrom, through the Fakir Sector, into the Argus sector, passing through Argonis-2 and then Mitus. Mitus is the "end of the road" for the main Relgim route. Beyond it are several lesser known routes that lead out of the sector. The system consists of four planets and an asteroid belt. It was once inhabited by an advanced race which lived on what is now the asteroid belt. They disappeared centuries ago, with only one colony remaining. Planet 1 -- Stellos Mining Corporation Mining planet Government: Owned by Stellos Mining Corporation Type: Terrestrial Climate: Volcanic Temp.: Hot Gravity: Standard Atmosphere: Type IV (suit required) Hydrosphere: Moderate, 45% land, Amonia Oceans and Lava Length of day: 19 hours Length of year: 90 local days Starport: Imperial Class Population: (native) 5 million Tech Level: Space Imports: Workers, food, equipment, hi-tech goods Exports: Ore Planet 1 is known only by the Corporation that controls it, the Stellos mining Corporation. It is a highly Volcanic planet with reinforced domes holding the population of miners and Corporate administrators. It is part of a in-system trade-triangle with Mitus-V and Mitus-II (Nareck). This trade along with others along the Relgim route is highly profitable. Planet 2-- Nareck Agricultural World under Imperial control Government: Imperial Government Type: Terrestrial Terrain: Ocean Temp: Temperate Gravity: Standard Atmosphere: Type I Hydrosphere: 31% land, water oceans Length of day: 15 standard hours Length of year: 105 local days Starport: Stellar Pop.: 40 million Tech level: Space Nareck is an agricultural planet that was recently nationalized by the Empire. It produces a huge mount of food which is sent by a triangular trade route to Mitus I and Mitus V. It also sends a large amount of food to Imperial operations along the Relgim lane. Free Traders used to stop on Nareck all the time to trade for food, but now only certain government authorized companies and traders are permitted. There is an Imperial Garrison on the planet and two Strike cruisers in orbit. Planet Position 3 -- Asteroid Belt (Mitus Major) Archaelogical site and limited mining Government: Imperial Government Temp.: Temperate in domes on Mitus Major, the Imperial controlled asteroid. Gravity: Standard Length of day: 23 hours Length of year: N/A Starport: Stellar Population: (Non-Imperial) 900, Imperial Researchers 495, troops 150 Tech level: Information Mitus Major is a large asteroid in the belt in position three. It used to be the home planet of an advanced race. Research into them is taking place under both private and Imperial research facilities. Planet 4 -- Gas Giant, Tandelou Nine moons. 2,5,6,7 inhabited. Tandelou 2 Disaster area, Tandelou 1 collided with it 100 years ago, when over-mining changed its orbit. Government: Tribes Type: Terrestrial Terrain: Underground Forest Gravity: Light Atmosphere: Type II (breath mask required) Hydrosphere: Moderate, 40% land Day: 36 hours Year: 420 local days Pop.: 90 thousand Sentient Race: Tandelouvians, in two tribes, the Eshvay and Eshvara Starport: Limited Tech level: Atomic Imports: Some food Exports: None Description: Tandelou 2, a temperate moon in orbit of Tandelou (Mitus IV), the natives are the Tandelouvians. Centuries ago, the natives of the planet that became the asteroid field in position three, over mined Tandelou 1 and reduced its mass so much that over time the moon's orbit shifted, passing closer and closer to Tandelou 2, until 100 years ago when it collided with the other moon and laid waste to the surface. Fortunately the Tandelouvians had evolved under the surface and were fully capable of returning. They entered two caverns called Eshvay and Eshvara. So they survived for thirty standard years and then exited to find an Old Republic contact team. The Tandelouvians are mole-like with tough armored skin. Attributes: 11D DEX 2D- 4D+1 PER 1D+1- 3D+2 (Eshvara tribe= 2D- 4D) STR 3D- 4D MEC 1D- 2D+1 TEC 2D- 3D KNO 1D- 3D (Eshvey tribe= 2D-4D) The Tandelou are spilt into two tribes and have been since they had to moved underground. The Eshvay see the outside galaxy as a solution to the poor economic situation on the planet. The Eshvara looked upon the Great Disaster as Divine Retribution, and see the Empire and the rest of the outside as a continuation of this. They are very religious. The Eshvara are distrustful and want nothing to do with the Empire. Tandelou 5 Abandoned Colony Government: Competing States Terrain: Wetlands Temp.: Cool Gravity: Standard Amospohere: Type I Hydrosphere: Moist, 14% land Day: 16 standard hours Year: 945.1 local days (15,120 hours) Starport: Limited Population: 80 thousand Tech Level: Stone Imports: None Exports: None Description: There appear to be Seven different competing nations, descended from the former natives of Mitus 3, roughly near human with stone age tech. Attributes: 12D DEX 2D-4D STR 3D-5D MEC 1D-2D TEC 1D-2D KNO 1D-4D PER 2D-4D There is also a research facility looking into the ruins of the original colonists. Tandelou 6 -- Galtega Colony-- Ithorian Government: Representative Democracy Type: Terrestrial Terrain: Desert Temp.: Temperate Gravity: Standard Atmosphere: Type I Hydrosphere: Dry, 70% land Day: 25 hours Year: 604.8 local days, (15,120 hours) Sentient Races: Ithorian Starport: Stellar class, in Northern Wastelands Population: 5 million Tech.: Information Imports: Water, farm equipment, plants Exports: Some food, not much else Description: Galtega is an Ithorian Colony established 25 years ago when an Ithorian herdship, the Galmetra, broke down in the system and had to be evacuated onto Tandelou 6. A group of Ithorians decided that it was their religious mission to terraform this desert world into a tropical world like their home world. Once the Galtega was rescued about 2 million people stayed and worked toward making the colony function. Cities were set up in the most inhospitable areas while vaporators dot the rest of the land. Over the years, with the herdship returning once per local year (about every 1.75 standard years), the colony grew to its current level. But the areas where the land has been hydrated are not inhabited because the Ithorians wish to maintain the beauty of nature. To enforce this, the Ithorians hired a militia of modified T-16s and Z-95 fighters. Much of the support for the colony comes from the herdship that started it as ties are still close. The coming of the herdship also brings traders to the moon, helping the economy. Herdship: See Graveyard of Alderaan. Tandelou 7 -- Argonis University Research- Tendelou/Mitus Division of Argonis University Government: President, chosen by University on Argonis-2, and local council with little real power. type: Tide-locked terrestrial Terrain: Cave, underground populace Temp.: Cool, warmer in caves, varies with orbit Gravity: Standard Atmosphere: Type I Hydrosphere: Moderate, 49% land Day: 25 standard days Year: 25.2 local days (15,210 hours) Starport: Stellar Pop.: 7 million (65% temporary students and researchers) Tech: Space Exports: Published research Imports: Food, students, High Tech. equipment, luxury items Planet 5 -- Mitus V Manufacturing/Processing- Mid tech Government: Organized Crime (Rumors: Axel Gurtain, Neerson Hillor, Jabba the Hutt) Type: Terrestrial Terrain: Hot (heavy cloud cover holds in heat) Gravity: Standard Atmosphere: Type I Hydrosphere: Moderate Day: 24 standard hours Year: 465 local days Spaceport: Standard, except bulk shipping Population: 200 million Tech: Space Imports: Some food from Mitus II, luxury items, ore from Mitus I Exports: Mid-tech items, manufactured items
