Guidelines for Contributors to the Star Wars RPG Resource Pool -------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to the unofficial Star Wars Role Playing Game Resource Pool. All information you will find here has been contributed by SW RPGers, and most of it will be their own work. The idea of the pool is to create a common location where SW RPG GM's can share game ideas and get inspiration for their own campaigns. This includes information on ships, droids, characters and campaign ideas. All the information is organized under a number of directories. More specific descriptions of these areas can be found in their README files. Guidelines: CONTENT Please include the following in all submissions: + The subdirectory topic appropriate for the item. + A brief description of the nature of the item. + Your name and email address (so we know who to credit). + The edition of the Star Wars RPG rules used for creation of this item. + All characters and NPCs should have complete statistics and include some kind of background. Please provide as much description as possible, including appearance, racial characteristics and history. Pictures (in .GIF format) would also be of great assistance. + When designing ships, equipment, droids and vehicles, please follow the formats described in the SW RPG rulebooks. If possible, include a price. + For planetary and stellar systems, a good guide for the format can be found in the galaxy guides. Both completely new systems and expansions based on the source books are welcome. + Droids: If the droid can be used as a Player Character, please describe it using the format in the Star Wars RPG Rulebook. + Spellcheck and proofread your work. Materials longer than 70 characters will wrap on many terminals and are very hard to read. So are long blocks of text not broken into paragraphs. FILE NAMES In order to make it easier for MS-DOS downloads, file names will be limited to 8 characters (plus a three letter extension indicating the format - TXT for text, GIF for .gif files, WAV for sound files). Please feel free to suggest names you'd like used - if at all possible, we'll use your suggestions. If you have more than one item in a similar vein, please give them similar names so that they will be obviously connected. For example a text file accompanied by a .GIF with a totally different name would be incredibly difficult for anyone to find. FILE FORMAT We want the greatest possible number of people to have access to this information. In order to assure this, we're establishing the following standards: TEXT: ASCII files without tabs or special formatting. GRAPHICS: (pictures, diagrams, etc) .gif format SOUND: .wav format There will always be exceptions, of course, but we prefer that the majority of the materials adhere to these standards. COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT Copyrighted material is forbidden and will not be made available. If material made available turns out to be protected under the US copyright laws, it will be removed. Examples of ineligible materials include: articles from SW Adventure Journal, published manuals, articles from magazines. UPLOADING PROCEDURES Because this is an extension of a personal account (and paid for by the list host) anonymous uploading is not permitted. To submit text files (plain ASCII text, as opposed to word processing format) mail each file individually to: jae+sw-rpg-upload@drycas.club.cc.cmu.edu or send them to the list with the topic STATS sw-rpg@listserv.aol.com If you wish to upload non-text files (word processing formatted files, spreadsheet templates, graphics, sound files, whatever) please send a message explaining what you'd like to do to the same address (jae+sw-rpg-upload@drycas.club.cc.cmu.edu) and we'll make arrangements for the upload. The files will be read and transferred into the appropriate directories as soon as possible. Remember that this is all maintained manually, in our spare time.
