This page was originally created by Tina Mancuso with the help of Peter Flynn. I took it over when Tina realized she didn't have the disk space to house it or the time to maintain it, but I wanted to give credit to the original creators. What Is BISEXU-L?BISEXU-L is the Bisexuality Discussion List, located at bisexu-l@brownvm.brown.edu. We are a (usually) friendly bunch of people of all genders, races, creeds and (yes) sexual orientations, from all over the world. Discussion topics on the list generally focus on issues relevant to bisexuality, but not at all times. After all, our bisexuality is not the only facet of our lives and, as such, more mundane topics will surface from time to time. The list is sometimes light and happy, sometimes a support group, more rarely a place to flirt and sometimes a debate forum. In short, there's something for everyone who's accepting of bisexuality as a valid sexual orientation here. List members may post anonymously and the list is also available in both digest and index format for those concerned about high mail volume. History and Background, or `Why Do Bisexuals Need a Discussion List?'The BISEXU-L list was founded in November 1989 by a couple of people (one of whom, Julie Waters, is still an active list member) who wanted to create a place on the net where bisexuals could talk openly about their relationships with any gender. Bi people often ran into the problem that not only did heterosexuals condemn us for our same-sex attractions, but our gay friends were hostile to us for our attractions to people not of the same sex. So the BISEXU-L list was founded to give us a safe place to talk about all aspects of our sexuality. At first it was a very small and cozy group. Today it has grown to almost 500 people. With so many subscribers, the occasional flame war does happen, but for the most part we try to avoid certain topics which will inevitably result in people being scorched. So, what kind of people are on this list, anyway? The following are links to the homepages or biographical information of some of the BISEXU-L list members. If you are a list member and would like your homepage to be linked here, please send mail to julie@drycas.club.cc.cmu.edu. If you don't have a homepage but would like to include biographical info, poetry, stories, or anything else here, you'll have to find someone else to take care of that for you and just provide me with the URL. I don't have the resources to maintain that sort of thing. All links are included only with the permission of the owners of these pages. Links are roughly in alphabetical order. Postings to the list should be addressed to the list address itself: bisexu-l@brownvm.brown.edu The list moderator can be reached directly by sending e-mail to bisexu-l-request@brownvm.brown.edu.
